Lip Blush
Tattooing
Melbourne

Lip blush tattoo, also known as lip blushing or lip tinting, is a semi-permanent makeup procedure designed to enhance the natural appearance of the lips by adding colour and definition. Unlike traditional lipstick or lip liner, lip blush tattooing involves depositing pigment into the lips' top layers to create a subtle, natural-looking tint.

During the procedure, we use specialised tattoo machine to apply the pigment in small, precise strokes along the lip line and within the lips' surface. We carefully select pigment shades that complements your natural lip colour and desired look, whether it's a soft nude hue or a more vibrant shade.

Lip blush tattooing can address various lip concerns, including pale or uneven lip colour, asymmetry, and thin lips. By adding definition and colour to the lips, this technique can create the illusion of fuller, more youthful lips without the need for daily makeup application.

After the initial procedure, clients may experience some swelling and redness, which typically subsides within a few days. The colour of the lips may appear darker initially but will gradually fade to a more natural-looking tint over the following weeks. It's essential to follow our aftercare instructions to ensure proper healing and long-lasting results.

Overall, lip blush tattooing offers a low-maintenance solution for achieving beautifully tinted lips that enhance your natural beauty and save time on daily makeup application.

Lip Blush

The Pixel Lip Blush Tattoo: This technique provides a subtle improvement to the natural lip, through a gentle pixel method to amplify definition and give the impression of fuller lips. Perfect for clients that are satisfied with their lip shape yet desiring a subtle tint, this approach yields the most authentic result. Whether preferring a hue that matches your natural lip colour or opting for a gentle colour choice, it offers a customised and subtle enhancement.

Colour Selection: Our extensive pigment collection ensures precise matching to your natural lip shade or allows you to bring in your favourite lipstick for reference. If you're uncertain about the colour after healing, adjustments can easily be made during the perfecting session for your peace of mind.

Lip Stick Lip Blush Tattoo: This technique involves blending pigment evenly across the entire lip, ensuring a seamless transition of colour. It's especially beneficial for individuals with significant lip asymmetry or loss of vermilion. By enhancing the lip's shape strategically, we can achieve improved definition and symmetry. It's common for clients to underestimate the natural fullness of their lips, as the vermilion tends to fade with age. For clients who prefer wearing lipstick daily and desire a richer lip colour, we recommend bringing in your preferred lipstick for colour matching.

Lip Neutralisation

Lip neutralisation can be particularly beneficial for individuals with hyperpigmentation, uneven lip tone, or those seeking to balance the colour of their lips for a more uniform look. It offers a long-lasting solution to enhance the appearance of the lips and boost confidence.

Lip neutralisation is a lip tattoo procedure aimed at correcting or balancing the natural colour of the lips. It involves using specialised pigments to adjust the tone of the lips, either by lightening or neutralising the existing colour.

Overall, lip neutralisation is a safe and effective cosmetic procedure that can help achieve a more balanced and aesthetically pleasing lip appearance.

  • What is the aftercare?
Following the aftercare instructions is extremely important in order to ensure good retention of colour during the healing process. Aftercare accounts for over 60% of the healed results. Apply any medicated cream or healing balm as recommended by your technician. Aftercare cream can be purchased at your appointment for $30. Avoid getting the area wet for up to 10 days, which includes keeping your face dry during a shower. Use a damp face cloth or face wipe to clean your face. Use a damp cotton pad to gently wipe the area for the first two days. This will reduce the build up of lymph fluid as the brows heal and reduce the chances of scabbing. Don’t put makeup on your brows or forehead for at least 10 days. This is because the tattoo is a healing & open wound. Applying makeup to the brows will increase the chance of infection. Don’t pick at scabs, tug, or itch the eyebrow area. Again, this will increase the chance of infection and possibly cause skin damage and scarring. Avoid saunas, swimming, and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed, which may take up to two weeks. Keep your hair away from your brows. Do not touch your brows with bare hands when they have been freshly done. Simple hygiene! Long Term Aftercare: Apply SPF-50 daily to the healed brow. Sun exposure over a prolonged period of time will fade the tattoo. Do not use strong chemical acids/ peels (salicylic, glycolic, lactic acids),IPL or laser on the healed cosmetic tattoo, as these will fade the tattoo over time.
  • Does it hurt?
A topical numbing cream is used before and during the process in order to reduce irritation and swelling. People's pain tolerances are all different, so please keep this in mind!
  • Who is NOT suitable for this treatment?
Women who are pregnant or breastfeeding are unable to get this treatment. Diabetics should seek a doctor’s recommendation beforehand. This is because the healing will take longer, with a higher risk of infection possible. Those on blood-thinning medication should not receive this treatment. This includes aspirin, treatment of high blood pressure, pain relief (Ibuprofen), Niacin, Vitamin E, Advil. Please receive advice from your doctor before discontinuing any medication. If you suffer from acne, open wounds on the face, or other infections on the brows, it is strongly advised to not get this treatment done. This is because the chance of spreading the infection is higher in these clients. Those with oily skin are also advised that their Feather Touch Brows may not last as long as other clients, due to the nature of their skin rejecting the pigment. This would mean that more regular touch-ups would be required. Alternatively, Ombré or Combination Brows has better healed results for oily skin types. If you suffer from keloid scarring, it is strongly recommended that you don't receive Feather Touch Brows. There is the possibility of doing a test patch during a consultation in order to assess your healing if this applies to you. Alternatively, Ombré Brows can be done as this cosmetic tattoo is less damaging to the skin and has a quicker healing time. If you have taken Accutane in the past year you are unable to get this treatment. Those who are allergic to lidocaine, prilocaine, benzocaine, tetracaine or epinephrine will need a doctor’s note. You will need to supply your own numbing cream. Anyone who has any serious medical conditions will require a doctor’s note.
  • What is the process?
Cosmetic eyebrow tattooing involves a full consultation, tattoo & 1-month touch-up visit. This is a two-part process, with an additional touch-up tattoo being required after a month to fill in and perfect any areas where the pigment may have faded. It must be completed within 6-weeks post initial treatment, otherwise, additional charges will apply. Prior to the procedure, a pre-numb anaesthetic cream is applied to the area to assist with the numbing of the area. Throughout the process, gel anaesthetic is also applied to reduce any irritation and inflammation that may occur. Depending on how you follow the aftercare recommendations, along with your skin type and lifestyle choices, the tattoo will last between 1-3 years. It is recommended that you maintain your eyebrow tattoo with yearly touch-ups. Please remember that a cosmetic brow tattoo will still require waxing/ plucking maintenance. If you have blonde hair and have them tattooed darker than your natural brow hair colour, you will also need to continue getting them tinted or hennaed.
  • What to expect while the brows are healing?
Your brows will appear a lot darker and more intense than what they will look like once healed. Over the first few days, they will be at their darkest. They might scab and flake, this is completely normal. While they heal, this will fade to reveal a much lighter colour. Please keep in mind that everyone’s skin will heal differently! The true colour of the tattoo will not be revealed until after 4 weeks. The touch up is then completed at 4-6 weeks to perfect any areas that need some extra attention.
  • What do I need to know BEFORE to my appointment?
This information is provided to ensure that there is minimal bleeding during the tattooing procedure. Failure to follow the below instructions can result in poor healed results. It is advised that you don't wax, thread or pluck your eyebrows for at least ONE week before your appointment. Do not consume any caffeine or alcohol the day of your appointment. This includes coffee, energy drinks, pre-work out, coca cola and tea. Do not take fish oils & vitamin E oils for a week before your treatment. Caffeine, alcohol & fish oils act as a blood thinner, causing you to potentially bleed during the process. This will stop the cosmetic tattoo pigment from holding in the skin. Blood thinning medication should be discussed with a doctor prior to your appointment. It will need to be stopped 1 day prior to your appointment, as you will bleed more during the tattoo process! You won't be able to heavily exercise (cause the face to sweat), use a sauna, swim or tan for ONE week. You can bring in reference pictures of eyebrows. Facials & skin peels should be avoided for one week before tattooing. Botox should be done 1 month before or 2 weeks after your brow tattoo appointment. Using a high Vitamin A, Retin-A or Tretinoin, this will need to be discontinued at least 2 weeks prior to your appointment.

Any treatment, medication, or illness that compromises the immune system is likely to interfere with healing, making you NOT a good candidate for cosmetic tattoo procedures. All clients must be 18+ for any tattoo service w/a valid photo.
  • Can I get Lip Blushing if I have dark/cool toned lips?
Yes, however, on the first session we will have to colour correct your lips to cancel out the cool tones sometimes we need couple session to do this. This means the initial colour we tattoo MUST be vibrant! If we are to tattoo any other colour you risk darkening your lips further or having absolutely no results at all. When healed at 6 weeks, most if not all of the darkness in your lips will be covered and your lips will have a nudey-pink even tone. Note that results cannot be guaranteed and lightening or evening out dark lips may take a few sessions (as we've mentioned before). Under no circumstances will we tattoo a "NUDE" color on dark or cool toned lips. If you are unsure if you have dark or cool toned lips you can send us a picture of your lips in natural light to confirm. Lips too dark or thick will be rejected so please be sure to email pictures if your lips are extremely dark grey or black in color.
  • Can I get Lip Blush if I have Lip Filler?
Yes! in no way does having Lip filler interfere with the process of tattooing lips or the results. Not that lip filler and lip blush appointments MUST be at least 4 weeks apart from each other.
  • How can I prepare for my appointment?
Do not consume caffeine and alcohol for 24 hours prior to your appointment to prevent excessive pain and bleeding. Do NOT TAKE ADVIL or other blood thinners such a Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E and/or Ibuprofen unless medically necessary, 48-72 hrs prior to your procedure. Extra strength Tylenol can be taken if you have low pain tolerance. Avoid exercising the day of the procedure. Do not take or get any chemical peels, laser skin resurfacing, vitamin E, retinols, fish oil, at least 4 weeks before your appointment. If you have a history Herpes or cold sore, take anti-vitals such as Acyclovir1 week before and after the procedure. Do not wax or bleach two weeks prior to the procedure. Please read the aftercare and arrange your schedule accordingly to the healing stage. There is downtime for every procedure. For Lip Blush: If your appointment is booked during an outbreak of cold sores on your lips the procedure may not be done. Please be aware that you have the simplex virus herpes, you may awaken an outbreak following this treatment. It is highly recommended to take an anti-viral medication such as Zivorax / Acyclovir 5 days before, then the day of. Then 5 days after or as advised by your doctor or pharmacist. Do not get lip injections 6 weeks before and after this treatment. Keep well hydrated drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day as well as moisturising the lips from a few days before. Exfoliate the lips by means of a tooth brush pr sugar scrub. You should keep away from direct sunlight and tanning beds for three to four days before. Avoid this procedure during your menstrual cycle as you are often more sensitive. Arnica tablets can be taken before and after the procedure to assist with healing. On the appointment date, we will consult about shape and colour before we start the tattoo. Tattooing will not start until the final design is drawn for you and agreed on.
  • Does Lip Blushing Hurt?
Not at all! The tattooing process lasts about three to four hours for the first appointment. We uses numbing cream (as your request) and gentle technique. Some are more sensitive than others and especially so if you do not follow the pre-care instructions. It is important to note individuals vary in tolerance and may be uncomfortable, but tolerable for most people. We use a Lidocaine pre-tattoo numbing cream to help with discomfort and a secondary Epinephrine based numbing agent throughout the session. If you are nervous about pain, you may take 1- 2 Paracetamol (acetaminophen) 30 minutes before your appointment. DO NOT take Advil or drink a coffee before your appointment. Coffee and Advil will cause you to bleed lots and also make you more sensitive during the procedure.
  • Is a Touch Up session required?
Touchups are recommended for everybody. On touchup sessions, we can alter the shape and colour of your tattoo or go bolder or fill in spots that didn't retain pigment as well as others during healing. Touchups will also add longevity to the life of your tattoo. A Touchup can be booked no sooner than 6 weeks of your last appointment. Please read the FAQ page to ensure you have waited long enough from laser treatments, filler or botox to have a touchup done. Touchups will be an extra charge and the touchup fee does go up after a period of time after the initial appointment. LIP BLUSH: Is a 2+ step process. Lips heal very quickly and change colour dramatically from your initial session to the "healed" results. They will lighten about 50% once fully healed vs what they look like when you've finished your first session. And they change again and again over 4-6 weeks as they continue to fully heal. Trust the process! Lip Blush typically lasts 2-3+ years. We recommend an Annual Refresh (done within 2 years of your 1st session, at a discounted 50% off the current rates, for our CURRENT CLIENTS who have received tattoo work by me). A great way to keep your cosmetic tattoo work crisp.
  • What is Lip Blush & How long will it last?
Will it look like lipstick? NO. It does not replace your lipstick. It will however give your lips a natural, opaque and blushing of color (similar to a tinted chapstick). Like "blush" on your cheeks, Lip Blush will add a tint of color and gently accentuate the shape and color of your lips. You can still apply lipstick or any other lip product over your lip blush tattoo. If you want a wake up with make-up look that doesn't "look" like you have makeup on, this is what this service provides. As we lose collagen and elasticity in our skin, the natural color in our lips starts to break down and we lose our shape. Making our lips appear smaller and dull in color. Not only are you able to add color, but we can also help to camouflage minor asymmetries, scarring or hyperpigmentation. We cannot tattoo outside of the lip tissue, so blushing will not change your lip size, but WILL create the appearance of fuller looking lips. Results will vary from person to person, but on average, can last anywhere from 2-3+ years. Each year you will see the color get lighter until it disappears. It will gently fade out exposing the color of your own lips. It is recommended to do a touch-up within 3-months of your initial session. This is due to your body wanting to push out pigment in the healing process. Because lip tissue regenerates so quickly, an "Annual Refresh" is recommended every few years or as desired for maintenance. Here are some factors will cause your semi-permanent tattoo to fade faster: Oily skin Retinol or Vitamin C Iron deficiency Sun exposure Exfoliants Exposure to salt water
  • Does this procedure trigger cold sores?
This procedure can trigger cold sores for carriers of the herpes simplex virus. To prevent cold sores from flaring up it is recommended to go to your family doctor and get Zovirax or another antiviral medication prescribed to take 5 days prior procedure, the day of, and 5 days after. Note that a cold sore outbreak can alter the healed results of the tattoo.
